A new bus lane is planned to be made in Fishponds.

This morning it has been reported that in Fishponds new bus lanes and routes are to be created.

They will do this by demolishing parking spaces and putting new bus stops in their place. The bus company states that it is to speed up public transport but local people and shop owners say that it only takes around 30 minutes to get into the town.

They also say that it will cost even more because bus stops, zebra crossings and traffic signals will need to be replaced to enable the buses to come by. An owner of a local shop has recently gathered the views of 40 local residents. The results of this were; 30 people say they are worried about the plans to

create the bus lanes. Local shop owners are complaining that this will decrease the amount of customers that come into their shops. Also local people claim that some buses go past with only 2 or 3 people on, so this will just take up time and needed space. Some claim that there are only 10 parking spaces and by building a bus lane it will take these away.

However some people have a positive attitude towards this and say it’s needed as soon as
possible.
